"Fran" was not only a devoted wife and mother and grandmother, she was devoted to anything she was involved in. She earned her 9th degree black belt and title of Soke-Dai and was the co-owner of the martial arts school that she and her husband, Prof. Ed Brown built themselves. They traveled around the United States to many martial arts tournaments and events in which they were both honored at. They also have sponsored many seminars through their 42 years of marriage and partnership. In 1986, Fran and Ed and their daughter, Georgette traveled to Okinawa, Japan which enhanced Fran's love of japanese arts and culture. Fran was always by Ed's side and not only were their lives joined through marriage, but also through deep love, respect, compassion and devotion to one another. Fran and Ed were husband and wife, parents, partners, best friends, soulmates. They were the epitome of what marriage is supposed to be.
Fran was a wonderful mother, she was strict, yet compassionate and understanding and set good values and strong morals for her daughter, Georgette. Fran always let people know when something was not right. She was upfront and honest and you never had to guess what Fran was thinking or thought of you.
Fran's first grandson, James Edward was born in December of 1991 and the smile on her face as she held him for the first time when he was just minutes old and the way he opened his eyes to look up at grandma was priceless. Their bond from that moment had never weathered. Jimmy was honored to have grandma become his sponsor/Godmother at his confirmation on December 3, 2006. Fran's second grandson, Edward Francis was born in December of 1994 and again a bond was created and her grandsons were the apples of her eye. She loved her "babies" and they loved their grandma.
Unfortunately, on Monday evening, July 30th, 2007, we lost this most wonderful woman, wife, mother, grandmother, martial artist and friend. Fran was taken from us much too soon and as we live our lives each day since without her, we manage a smile as we think of her beautiful memory and cry at the beautiful life lost.
I am not only fortunate to be Fran's daughter, i am also honored and blessed. I can only wish that I can extend everything she has taught me and helped me to become on to my sons and to continue her love and legacy.
"Mom, thank you for the wonderful life, the memories, the love and for the inspiration. You will always be loved and never forgotten". Love, Georgette
